Post Abingdon Weekender Leave a comment

Last weekend saw us support MGCC’s Post Abingdon Weekender 2023 event, set at the Great Central Railway Station in Quorn, Leicestershire.

It was a particularly challenging time for all thanks to very changeable weather conditions – high winds & horizontal rain plus monsoon like downpours made most of the traders & club stands fear for their gazebos & stock!

Tim attended on the Saturday and bore the brunt of the storms, which meant the turnout was a lot lower than expected, however, Stuarts Osborne & Stuart Croston saw that the company was represented with a larger number of attendees braving the slightly calmer conditions on the Sunday and managed to engage with a few more owners and trade contacts alike.

Some interesting vehicles from the Post Abingdon era were in attendance, from classic MGs including the impressive MGRV8 through all manner of ZR/ZS/ZT variants (a strong showing of ZT / ZT-T 260’s) alongside a plethora of MGF & TFs plus some of the lesser seen models nowadays, like the Rover 600s, a  Rover 200 Coupe “Tomcat”, MG Maestros (Immaculate black Turbo & the “Silver Survivor” EFI) in addition to a number of the latest MG models – we also had a lovely MG SVR making all kinds of beefy V8 noises courtesy of our customers Retro Sports Cars.

Great Central Railway joined the classic community with a lovely old vintage steam engine and a later “Class 50” diesel locomotive pulling some classic Pullman carriages with day trippers enjoying the ride!
