The London Taxi Company was based in Coventry, England, and as the name suggests was a taxi design and manufacturing company.
It can trace its origins back to 1919, and former trading names for the same entity include London Taxis International and Carbodies.
It had originally operated as a coachbuilding business for more than 50 years, making short runs of bodies for other manufacturers. In 1971 however it began to manufacture complete London taxicabs, which it took from former customer Austin. Only two years after this, the business was purchased by Manganese Bronze Holdings. It was rebranded as The London Taxi Company in 2010, but placed under administration two years later in 2012. Some of the assets of the business were then bought by the company Geely to form what was then known as London EV Company.
